Ashley Miles is trying to evolve the traditional consulting model with her new startup called Franklyn West.

The former Thrive Global and Refinery29 exec's firm is among a new crop of ad, media, tech, and consulting businesses aiming to bring a new approach to everything from business planning to recruiting.

One way the firm differentiates itself from the likes of Deloitte and Accenture is by relying on a changing roster of experts in various business functions rather than a permanent staff, she said. Current experts include Shark Tank investor Daymond John; Anastasia Soare, founder and CEO of beauty brand Anastasia Beverly Hills; and startup investor and advisor Fran Hauser.

"It's a one-stop solution helping businesses get to the next level without having to work with multiple vendors," Miles said.

The firm also promises to drastically shorten the business planning process for clients through a workshop that it calls the "Pivotal Power Agenda." One way it does this is by bringing a clients' department heads together earlier in the process than traditional consulting firms do, Miles said.

The firm also plans to provide its clients digital quarterly insights reports called "Future First" on macro trends, their business implications, and expert guidance on how to navigate them.
